Mittelalterlicher Einhänder aus Stahl
Die ungeschärfte Kohlenstoffstahlklinge dieses schönen Schwertes ist bis zum Knauf durchgeschmiedet und am Griffende doppelt verschraubt. Der Griff wurde in der typischen Art mit Draht umwickelt und mit einem klassischen Scheibenknauf ausgestattet. Die Parierstange unseres Mittelalter-Einhänders ist leicht abwärts gebogen.
Mittelalterliche Einhänder, sogenannte Ritterschwerter, erfreuten sich beim Schwertadel im Hoch- und Spätmittelalter großer Beliebtheit. Sie entwickelten sich im 10. Jahrhundert aus den Spathas, wobei das Wikingerschwert als Übergangsform angesehen werden kann. Die Parierstange des Mittelalter-Einhänders ist länger als jene frühmittelalterlicher Exemplare, die Klinge hingegen etwas schmaler und spitzer zulaufend.
Einhänder mit gerader Klinge aus dem Hoch- und Spätmittelalter werden umgangssprachlich auch Ritterschwert genannt. Das liegt zum Großteil daran, dass mittelalterliche Ritter in Darstellungen häufig mit Einhandschwert und Schild oder Buckler abgebildet wurden. Beispiele dafür finden sich etwa in dem Codex Manesse oder dem Sachsenspiegel.
Der Mittelalter-Einhänder war die Nahkampfwaffe des Ritters und konnte je nach Beschaffenheit als Hieb- oder Stichwaffe eingesetzt werden. Bis etwa zur Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts waren die Einhänder breiter und mit einer schärferen Klinge ausgestattet, da sie eher als Hiebwaffe gegen leichte Kettenpanzerung eingesetzt wurden. Als dann der Plattenpanzer Einzug hielt, wurden die Einhänder zum Ort (die Spitze des Schwertes) hin schmaler und als Stichwaffe verwendet. Auch zu Pferd wurden Einhandschwerter eingesetzt, wenn die Stangenwaffe etwa im Gefecht zerbarst, abhandenkam, oder im dichten Kampfgetümmel unhandlich wurde.
Dieses Schwert ist als Sammlerstück bzw. Dekorationsobjekt konzipiert und auch als Requisit hervorragend geeignet, z.B. zur Vervollständigung Deines Kostüms.
